Protect your Hands with Gloves:

There are many tools available for gardening but the most readily tool is our hands. That we used for digging, weeding, dividing and spreading. So we must protect our tools and for the protection of our hands we need gloves.

Choosing Gloves:

There are different types of gloves available. First people used to wear cotton gloves. They wear quickly but they weigh ton when they get wet. They chill your hands fast in cold weather. There was no protection against thorns. Leather gloves were also available but wetting factor was there.

Spandex/Lycra is the best glove. They have no absorption at all; wick moisture away and there is hard wearing nylon on the finger tips and palm.

If wetness is the key factor then mud gloves are leading the pack. They are rubber coated and keep hands, body and mind comfortable.

For handling roses or other thorny plants, rose gauntlets are available with protection to the elbow that will stop even the blood thirstiest thorns.

Summer Gardening Tips:

Following are some helpful tips for summer gardening.

There is much humidity with summer season. High humidity can cause lot of problems to the garden plants. One helpful tip is that don’t water your plants before dark. Make sure that your plants are pretty dry when you tuck them it will reduce the chances of fungal infection in plants.

Fire Blight is very contagious in plants and it usually starts up at the end of the branch and moves towards the main stream. Your plant dies and leaves usually hang on turning in to reddish brown.

One of the helpful tips is to burn the branch to stop it from spreading or cut it down. You should dip your shear or tools in alcohol.

If you are have Perennial Rye Grass, then don’t leave it wet at night. There is a fungus known as Pythium Blight that comes in very humid conditions. It attacks and kills your grass. You can see this fungus easily in morning like a white cotton candy lying on a grass.
